HdK reserves a small quota of rooms from DUWO specifically for our incoming international students. To apply for one of these rooms, follow the steps below.

How to apply

When all applications have been processed and all students admitted, somewhere mid-June, all students that meet the requirements will get an e-mail inviting you to let us know if you are interested in renting a room through us and which room(s) has your preference. You will have a few days to respond after which the window closes and you cannot apply again.

We charge a housing fee of €300 to cover our mediation and administration costs. The housing fee is not the same as the first rent payment, or any fee that may be charged by DUWO. The fee will only be charged if you rent a room through us.

Room allocation

Soon after the room application deadline, we will conduct a lottery to allocate the rooms. The only discriminating factor we will use is that half the rooms are allocated to the Royal Conservatoire and half to the Royal Academy of Art. It does not matter what your gender is, where you are from, how old you are, what you are studying, etc. It is pure luck whether you are picked at random or not.

We will allocate the rooms available to us, according to the registered room preference, among the 45 lucky lottery winners. If you are among these 45 students, we will offer you a room via e-mail and you will have 4 days to accept the room or not. You will be directed to the DUWO website, where you will find details of the room available to you. Please note that this is the only offer that you will receive. If you reject the offer, you will not receive another one.

We admit about 500 new international students each year. With only 45 rooms to allocate, you can imagine your chances of getting a room are small. Please continue with your own housing search and if you find something acceptable, take it!

    1. Complete the housing application form provided by HdK (you will receive a link after your admission).
    2. After the application deadline, you will receive one housing offer (if rooms are available).
    3. You will have 4 days to accept the offer.
    4. If you decline or miss this deadline, no further offers will be made.
    5. Sign the rental agreement with DUWO.
    6. Pay the non-refundable housing fee of €300. This covers the administrative costs of reserving the rooms on your behalf.
Note: This is not the same as your rent or DUWO’s service fees.

Important: Have your payment ready and monitor your email closely — quick action is essential to secure your room.
